Compact Size

Bigger isn’t always better, especially when it comes to mobility equipment. That’s why here at Third Hand Healthcare, we have compact products to help you get around but without the hassle of handling large equipment.

Electric Wheelchairs

Every electric chair has either four or more wheels. These consist of two large drive wheels and two or four smaller wheels; they are called “casters” and help maintain your wheelchair’s stability. For users who may not have the upper body strength to push manual wheels, an electric wheelchair means you are not limited to taking short trips out of the house.
A flexible folding electric wheelchair is designed to suit you, no matter your weight or height. All of our electric wheelchairs are adaptable to the severity of any disability and also use some additional items for that little bit of extra comfort. For example, many of our electric wheelchairs offer adjustments for height, tilt, recline and leg space. Our experienced staff will be able to help you make your electric powered wheelchair. Thord Hand Healthcare believe that we have a chair to suit all budgets and are an excellent investment if you value your independence.
Compact and manoeuvrable when used indoors, with a tight turning circle, it’s equally as durable and robust over uneven outdoor terrain. Our mobility equipment balances safe outdoor drive performance, indoor agility and user comfort perfectly.

Shower Wheelchair

These chairs are designed to be waterproof so that you can use them in bathrooms, wetrooms and other damp environments. Also, some are designed with a particular space in the seat so you can place it over your toilet to make going to the bathroom a lot easier and minimising the need for transfers. A mobility shower chair is a valuable aid for the carer as well.
Using a mobility shower chair allows you to enjoy a shower in a supported position, meaning you can be much safer and more comfortable. Shower Chairs are beneficial for those that are in wheelchairs, the elderly, or anyone who finds excessive movement distressing or unmanageable.
Shower wheelchairs come in all shapes and sizes, depending on what you need them for. Make sure to get in touch with us, and we can talk through some options to find a shower wheelchair that works for you.

Transfer Commode

Transfer commodes are mainly used for going to your toilet, so then you can be easily transferred from your chair to the toilet without too many difficulties. A transfer commode has a seat section, but it also has a sliding area to scoot or slide across. This is pretty secure as a transfer commode isn’t usually moved around once it’s put in place.
These commodes are helpful if a person is weak or unsteady. If someone is at risk of falling, a commode may be safer than walking to the bathroom. We know that space can often be complex in the bathroom, which is why these chairs are an economical solution when you’re looking for a mobility aid. A commode can be used as a shower chair when bathing and as an over toilet aid to minimise the effort needed to sit and stand.
There are different types of transfer commodes that you can choose from, from 3 in 1 commodes to bedside commodes, depending on your needs and wants. Have a chat with our lovely team, and we will be sure to find you exactly what you are looking for.

Home Care Bed

A home care bed is perfect for a person who has trouble getting into a standard bed or out of bed without the risk of slipping and sliding out. The way it works is that you can adjust your bed to how you want it. These beds can help you sit upright and move to be more comfortable and help with blood circulation.
Patients who have difficulty sitting up can have a trapeze bar hung above to help them lift and position themselves. These beds can be lowered or raised according to the patient’s height and reach.
There are many different types of home care beds, from manual options that work with a handle crank or the electric beds that come with a remote to control the direction you want your bed. Please get in contact and have a chat with our team about which bed would be best for you.
